KINDS OF TOURISM

People are travelling more than ever before. The World Organization predicts that by 2020 the number of international travellers will be more than 1.6 billion people per year. There are four kinds of tourism.

1- Medical tourism

It can be for a variety of things, from operations to visits to the dentist or even cosmetic surgery. The most popular countries offering this kind of tourism are India, Thailand, Cuba, Argentina and Jordan.

2- Culinary tourism

Dining is one of the top three tourist activities. But if your were in a country famous for its food, would you learn how to cook it? People sometimes go to another country to learn how to prepare its typical food.

3- Disaster tourism

It involves visiting the site of a disaster such as tours to New Orleans after Hurricane katrina to parts of Thailand after the tsunami or tourist visits to ground Zero in New York.

4- Literary tourism

This is a kind of cultural tourism and it can be connected to the life of an author, for example visiting his /her home or favourite places, or also connected to the lives of characters in a story or it can even be a visit to a place where a film based on a famous author`s book was made.
